ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON
SCOTTISH NOVELIST, ESSAYIST, POET AND TRAVEL WRITER
Born and educated in Edinburgh, Stevenson was a novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer. He is best known for works such as Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Kidnapped and A Child's Garden of Verses. In May 1880, he travelled with his new wife and her son to Napa Valley and spent the summer at an abandoned mining camp on Mount Saint Helena, now named Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. He wrote about this experience in The Silverado Squatters.
